What is the process of a woman's hairline tattoo

The process

Before the micropigmentation artist proceeds to the actual tattooing, she locally applies a special anesthetic cream. This will numb the treated area so that you do not experience any discomfort during the procedure. The procedure consists of applying pigment to the subcutaneous tissue. The specialist uses a very thin needle. It is possible to either use a single needle or use a device that has multiple needles.

The technician chooses the proper equipment depending if she needs to recreate each strand or embed many dots of pigment to make them look like hair follicles. She continues to apply pigments until she achieves the desired effect of greater hair density.

At the end, she will explain how to take care of the tattoo and make an appointment for your next session. It is quite common for scalp skin camouflage to be split into up to 3 sessions. Repeated application of pigment is even desirable for a natural-looking result. This way we can insert it into several layers and ensure its well blending.

The healing

This type of procedure does not require any complicated recovery. For most people, it is possible to return to work the same day or a few days after. Immediately after the procedure, the scalp may be reddened. This redness is a perfectly normal reaction of the body to pigment, which it perceives as a foreign substance.

However, the redness will subside within 2-3 days. During this period you may use headwear if it makes you feel more comfortable. The entire healing process after scalp micropigmentation is similar to that of a sunburn or tattoo and takes usually around 7-10 days. There will be tiny scabs and dry skin which may be causing itching. Keeping the area clean and dry is essential.

The post-procedure care

Keep in mind several tiny perforations were made to deposit the pigment into the skin’s top layers. Therefore you’ll want to treat your scalp as an open wound. Following a few simple instructions can ensure proper healing and prevent pigment fading.

  • Avoid scratching, touching, or combing the scalp after treatment. This way you lower the risk of bacteria or germs introduction. If your scalp feels itchy, you can gently pat it.
  • Avoid physically demanding activity and sport for at least 5 days after the scalp micropigmentation. Sweat can cause infection and negatively affect how the pigment settles into the scalp.
  • Protect the scalp from UV rays. Those can damage pigment and lead to premature fading.
  • Don’t soak the scalp for at least the first week after a treatment session. For 2 weeks after getting the scalp tattooed avoid swimming.
  • Start to use a gentle cleanser after day 5. Choose a high-quality product without harsh chemicals or fragrances to avoid irritation on the scalp.

What questions do you ask us most often about micropigmentation? Here are some of them.
We use numbing creams before the treatment. The needles we use to deposit the pigment are very thin and do not reach as deep under the skin as in the case of standard tattoos. It is possible to feel a slight discomfort during the procedure. However, it is not a painful procedure.
Possible risks come with using an unlicensed or inexperienced practitioner. The most common are allergic reactions to the pigments, infection from unsterilized needles, and the undesirable appearance of the tattoo. To avoid these risks choose a licensed scalp micropigmentation artist who takes necessary precautions and uses high-quality pigment. If you have allergies, discuss them with your technician beforehand.
Luckily, there’s no downtime needed after a session. However, during the first two weeks, you should avoid swimming and staying in direct sunlight completely. This will help the scalp heal and pigment settle. It will also prevent it from fading. At the same time, we always recommend protecting the tattoo from UV rays with a high-SPF sunscreen or at least a head covering.
